I love our mornings and getting the day of fun, homeschool and work going. When we gather as a family to do breakfast, it really gets the day off to a great start. When it comes to a meal that is
delicious, easy-to-prepare, and simple to make, we love to use stove top Cream of Rice.
When made with water, Cream of Rice is naturally fat-free, cholesterol-free, and sodium-free, providing a nutritious blank canvas to blend with proteins or a variety of toppings like granola or fruit.
Both of our kids love when it's time to top and decorate our bowls how we all like them. It makes for a fun competition of who can make the more tasty bowl.
Along with the Cream of Rice, we pick up our favorite toppings from Walmart. Some of our favorites are granola, honey, cinnamon, fresh fruit, raisins, brown sugar and more. Cream of Rice is great with savory toppings too. We love to keep ours vegetarian friendly, but you can easily add toppings to your dietary preference like egg, butter, nuts or even bacon bits.
I love that a delicious bowl of Cream of Rice provides 5 essential vitamins and minerals and is an excellent source of iron. Plus, it's gluten-free!
Here are our four bowls and ways we love to top our Cream of Rice. Always remember to follow the directions and guidance on the box per your serving needs.
Stovetop Directions from box:
1 serving: ¼ cup Cream of Rice, 1 cup water, dash of salt(optional)
- Bring water and salt to a boil.
- Gradually add Cream of Rice, stirring constantly with wire whisk until well blended.
- Return to a boil. Reduce heat to low, simmer, uncovered, 30 seconds or until thickened, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat; cover. Let stand 1 minute. Stir well before serving.
You can find Cream of Rice now in the cereal aisle at a Walmart near you!
I would love to hear in the comments below how you would top and enjoy your Cream of Rice?

Cream of Rice makes me think of rice cereal, I wonder if it’s okay to use for babies in a pinch.

I’ve never heard of cream of rice but I have had cream of wheat and Malt O Meal. It’s been forever since I have had either. I’ll have to buy this next time I’m at the store so that I can try the new Cream of rice.
